FAQ

What is GetBeerShipped?

GetBeerShipped is a web app that lets you see which breweries, beer stores, and cideries will ship directly to you. Since beverage alcohol is regulated at a state level in the United States, the rules about which sellers can ship to consumers in which states is incredibly complicated and difficult to understand. As a result, we’ve found there are a surprising number of unexpected ways to get some of the best breweries in the country shipped to your front door. We do the work to make these discoveries and share them with you.

How do I use the app?

Once you create a free account, you can

  1. Receive email notifications about new releases so you never miss out on them before they sell out.

  2. Browse our comprehensive database of sellers that ship to consumers in your state. We’re constantly adding new breweries, beer stores, and cideries that will ship to your home state. We also include details on shipping costs, days in transit, and carrier options on seller pages so you can see upfront if these details are a nonstarter.

Why would I get beer shipped when I can just go to my local beer store or brewery to buy beer?

  1. Getting beer shipped gives you access to beers that are not distributed to your state that you will not find at your local beer shop or brewery. This includes some of the most famous, hyped, and top-rated breweries in the country.

  2. If you’re currently buying individual cans and bottles at your local beer shop, the markup that your local beer shop adds to the price is typically similar to the added cost of shipping when you order a case of beer to be shipped to you.

  3. When you get beer shipped directly from a brewery, the beer is typically fresher than the beer you would buy at a beer store because the beer is not spending time in transit from the brewery, to the wholesaler where it’s temporarily stored and then to the beer store where it’s temporarily stored. For beers like hazy IPAs, the difference between getting cans directly from the brewery just a few days after they were packaged to getting cans 2-3 weeks after they were packaged is the difference between having a spectacular beer and a good beer.

  4. Breweries and beer stores are increasingly offering mixed cases (where each pack is a different beer) or even mixed packs (where each bottle or can in a case is a different beer). This allows you to have your cake and eat it too, by getting the variety you’d have by shopping in your local beer store and buying single bottles/cans, or 4-packs, but instead having it shipped to your front door so you don’t have to leave your house.
